Virtual Discussion on the Forthcoming Review of the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications

  • July 20, 2023
  • 12:00 PM (EDT)
  • zoom

Registration is closed

This virtual discussion is an opportunity for CALJ journal members to convene to discuss the proposed review of the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on publications, and its goal to move to immediate OA. The new policy will be announced (take effect?) by the end of 2025. The policy is expected to require that any peer-reviewed journal publications arising from agency-supported research (i.e., CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) be freely available, without subscription or fee, at the time of publication. This policy will impact many peer-reviewed journals in Canada, especially those that are subscription based. It will also have a major impact on researchers. It will be critical to ensure that CALJ members have an organized voice as part of the stakeholder consultations that will take place leading up to the implementation of the policy. The Virtual Discussion will provide a brief overview of the information released to date on the policy, the international context of this type of OA policy, unstated implications, and an open discussion with CALJ journal members to share perspectives, generate ideas, and voice concerns.

Please note your journal must have an active CALJ membership to participate.

Zoom link details will be sent upon registration.
